The Badger's Burrow

Badger In the early 1900s, there was widespread persecution of badgers and populations never recovered. Recent estimates now put the number of badgers in British Columbia at fewer than 200 breeding adults. The type of badger found in Eastern British Columbia is the jeffersonii subspecies and it is ranked as endangered by COSEWIC. In 1999, the British Columbia government put the badger on its red-list meaning it is endangered or threatened.

Kootenay National Park of Canada: Badger Basics

This is an excellent site provided by Parks Canada (produced by Jenny Klafki, mostly focused on East Kootenays).

East Kootenay Badger Project

East Kootenay Environmental Society is one of several partners in the East Kootenay Badger project, a multi-year study of the ecology and distribution of badgers in the East Kootenay. This information is to be used to incorporate badger habitat requirements in development plans and to develop private stewardship initiatives. The Project was initiated in 1995 and is the first intensive radio telemetry-based study of badgers in Canada.

An excellent source of information on badgers in the south-central region of British Columbia.

Collection of data and information about the work being down with badgers in the Cariboo region.
