At only 5mm long, the short, clear wings of the planthoppers lie at rest over their abdomen. A small spur on the hind legs distinguishes this family from other planthopper families.These insects feed only on plants.
Leafhoppers are small, brightly coloured bugs with small spines on the hind legs. Each species is associated with a particular plant. Leafhoppers often discharge small drops of honeydew which attracts ants.
Shore bugs are small, oval, brownish insects that hide in grasses. They hop away and quickly disappear into the grass when disturbed. Shore bugs feed on other insects.
