Bristly bluish-green leaves with reddish tips make this moss look very much like young juniper seedlings. Don’t be fooled! The fruiting capsules help to dispel the confusion, sitting as white hairy popsicle heads on the top of upright red-brown stalks.
This is a medium to large, pale yellowish green and shiny leaf lichen with rather broad lobes. The underside is brown and somewhat shiny with many holdfasts attaching the lichen to its growing site. Rockfrog lichen is commonly found on rocks at low elevations.
