The Prince George Region includes the Robson Valley, Prince George, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson and Fort St. John Forest Districts. This region is characterized by the Peace grasslands, lying east of the Rocky Mountains at a latitude of approximately 56N. Grasslands in this region are the northwestern extension of the Great Plains, which stretch across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Open grasslands in the area are very rare, with aspen parklands being much more abundant.
