Planned Giving

As our population ages, many non-profit organizations are asking their members to consider a new method of donation--planned giving. The concept of planning for a future donation by adding the GCC as a benefactor in your will has many benefits for our organization and for you as a donor. Each dollar allocated to the GCC will be spent ensuring that the grasslands of British Columbia will be protected and maintained well into the future.

By choosing to leave a grassland legacy, you can ensure that the people and places you love will stay strong after your passing.

Planned gifts can be be made available immediately or they can be made available for the future. They can take a number of different forms including:

1. bequests under a will,
2. donations of publicly traded securities, RRSP, RRIF, or life insurance policies, or
3. an endowment.

Planned giving can be tailored to take into account everyone’s needs: yours; your beneficiaries; and our charitable organization as we work to protect the future of grasslands. Benefits to you, the donor are:

• Make a lasting contribution to a cause that you believe in
• Direct your gift to the component of our work that matters most to you 
• Pay less tax.  Gain valuable credits on your final estate income tax return (or on your current year’s return, depending on the type of gift you make) 
• Receive a lifetime membership to the GCC (for gifts more than $1,000) 
• Receive our bi-annual publications, invitations to upcoming events and, reports on GCC initiatives throughout the year  
• Know that your gift will “pay dividends” well into the future for grasslands and the rare plants, animals and insects they shelter, so future generations can enjoy these remarkable places
