Submission Guidelines
BC Grasslands magazine comes out twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. Publication dates are roughly April 1 and October 1. If you are interested in contributing an article, please pitch the idea to us as soon as possible.
Each issue is centred around a specific theme.
Upcoming themes for BC Grasslands are:
We encourage the submission of:
Briefs (100 to 150 words): Notification of relevant, upcoming grassland events in BC.
Feature Length Articles (1,500 to 2,000 words): An in-depth, objective, discussion of a specific issue related to the magazine's theme.
Flora and Fauna (500 to 1,000 words): Description of plants or animals that inhabit grassland regions.
Success Stories (700 to 1,000 words): Project, organization or individuals doing notable work in grassland stewardship.
Partner Profile (300 to 500 words): Description of organization working in partnership with the GCC.
Perspective Pieces (500 to 1,000 words): Stories or articles conveying a specific, subjective, point of view. Different perspectives include, but are not limited to, ranching, farming, ecological, economic, non-profit / advocacy, regional / community and government.
Personal Landscapes (500 to 1,000 words): Personal essay about the grasslands.
Photographs, cartoons and other graphics are always welcome.

If you're emailing your submission, please send it as an attachment. If you're mailing your submission and want us to return it to you, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
If we're interested in running your piece, we will let you know approximately one month before our publication dates. (Publication dates are April 1 for our spring issue and October 1 for our fall issue.)
We reserve the right to edit submissions but we will make every effort to work with contributors to preserve the content
